Meet Sam Strait

Always be where flip-flops can be worn.

If you could live your life by a single rule, what would it be?

That’s a question I asked myself one summer afternoon while running around my neighborhood in flip-flops. We used to call them thongs when I was a kid, but I think only the Australians call them that now.

I love flip-flops, by the way. I’ve always equated them with being cool, and that’s because my Uncle Mike wore them. For a kid, a firefighting uncle who wore jeans and flip-flops in his off time was the epitome of cool.

Eastern Washington has beautiful summers, but the winters are cold and snowy. Not exactly weather for exposed feet. But if I could live my life in only flip-flops, would I do it?

Would you?

How would that life look? How would you pay for it? Those are the sort of questions that prompts a writer to start making notes and imagining adventures. That lead me to create Sam Strait—a thirty-something snowbird who lives by a particular set of rules. They’re supposed to make his life drama free. Unfortunately, things don’t always work out that way for him.

Drop me a line and let me know what your number one rule for life would be. I’d love to hear from you!
