Did I Suck Last Quarter?

Author Update 4th Quarter 2022

It’s time that I look back on the previous quarter and review my successes and failures—what actions should I repeat, and which should I avoid. This is a good thing for anyone to do and I probably should apply such a thing to my personal life.

Let’s not suggest it to my girlfriend. She’s always looking for ways to improve me.

Books Released in Quarter #4

I released Cozy Up to Danger on November 3, 2022. I’m extremely excited with how the book has done as well as the Cozy Up series overall. For years, I’ve considered the 509 Crime Stories as my flagship series, but this one has suddenly gotten the buzz.

That might have something to do with the fact that I have released many 509 Crime novels over the past couple of years. I released The Only Death That Matters last quarter, but it had been some time in between releases.

New Writing

Looking forward to this year and next, it’s going to be an active year for the 509 Crime Stories. Five books are currently on the schedule.

02/04/2023—The After-Hours War—Book 10 in the 509 Crime Stories
05/05/2023—The Fate of Our Years—Book 11 in the 509 Crime Stories
11/03/2023—The Night of the Dead Boys—Book 12 in the 509 Crime Stories
01/30/2024—The Path of Progress—Book 13 in the 509 Crime Stories
04/29/2024—When the Wicked Rest—Book 14 in the 509 Crime Stories

I finished the first and second drafts of The Path of Progress the quarter so that book is on schedule. All the other books are ready to go. When the Wicked Rest is a collection of short stories.

I’m can’t wait to get started book 15. It will feature the return of James Morgan as a lead character, so you know it’s going to be dark and full of action!

During the past quarter, I continued to work on Cozy Up to Terror, the seventh book in the Cozy Up series. That one is coming along nicely. It is scheduled for release in August.

08/03/2023—Cozy Up to Terror—Book 7 in the Cozy Up series

The book I’m currently working on is the sixth book in the John Cutler series—Cutler’s Legacy. I’m excited to be writing Cutler again. He’s a man who sees the world completely different from my 509 cops.

The Blog

I set a goal at the beginning of 2022 to write one blog post a week. I did pretty good for most of the year, but I ran into a couple of issues in December. The first was the holidays, and the second was an illness that really knocked me down. Those shouldn’t be an excuse for hitting my goal.

I’m going to stick with the goal of 52 posts for 2023. It’s going to require a bit more creativity. I have some guest posts planned which I am very excited about. One of the other things I would like to develop is a reoccurring post theme—something I could come back to over and over. Like this quarterly update, for example.

If you have any ideas, please post them below or email me. I’d love any suggestions on things you’d like to read here.

Books I Read

I did exceptionally well this past quarter and for the year. However, I wrote a separate blog post on the subject since I do such a thing every year. I hope you check it out here: 2022 Reading List.

Well, that’s it. A quick quarterly update.
Let me know your thoughts. And we’ll huddle up again in three months.

Keep reading. And remember…

The crime of your life is just a book away.
